Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Bay Owl Studios (“Bay Owl”, “we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you use:

– bayowl.studio and bayowlstudios.com (together, the “Websites”); and

– any pages, widgets, or booking flows hosted on or embedded into our Websites.

This Cookie Policy works alongside our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use, Booking Terms, and Studio Policies. Any capitalised terms not defined here have the meanings given in those documents.

Important note on third-party booking platforms:

If you use a third-party booking platform or app (even where accessed via links from our Websites), that platform may use its own cookies and similar technologies. Those cookies are governed by the third party’s own cookie and privacy policies, not this Cookie Policy.

1) What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit a website. Cookies help websites work properly, remember preferences, improve performance, and (where permitted) support analytics and marketing.

2) Similar technologies we may use

We may also use similar technologies such as:

– pixels (also called tags or beacons), which help measure site activity and campaign performance;

– local storage/session storage, used to remember certain site settings; and

– SDKs (software development kits) in the limited event we operate an in-house app in future.

For ease, we refer to these together as “cookies”.

3) Why we use cookies

We use cookies for some or all of the following purposes:

– to enable core website functions and security features;

– to remember preferences (for example, language or cookie preferences);

– to understand how visitors use our Websites so we can improve usability and performance; and

– where enabled and permitted, to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.

4) Types of cookies

Cookies may be:

– Session cookies: temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser; or

– Persistent cookies: cookies that remain until they expire or you delete them.

Cookies may also be:

– First-party cookies: set by our Websites; or

– Third-party cookies: set by other parties (for example, analytics or advertising providers).

5) Cookie categories

We group cookies into the following categories:

A) Strictly necessary cookies

These are required for the Websites to function and cannot usually be turned off within our systems. They may include cookies that support security, load balancing, and basic site functionality.

B) Functionality cookies

These remember choices you make (for example, preferences) to provide a more personalised experience.

C) Analytics / performance cookies

These help us understand how our Websites are used (for example, which pages are visited, time on site, and errors). This helps us improve the Websites.

D) Advertising / marketing measurement cookies (where enabled)

These may be used to measure campaign performance and understand whether marketing is effective. Depending on your settings and applicable law, these cookies may also support audience measurement.

6) Consent and cookie choices

Where required by law and where our Websites provide a cookie banner or preference centre, you can choose which optional cookie categories to accept or reject. Strictly necessary cookies are used regardless, as they are required for the Websites to operate.

If we do not provide a cookie preference tool on a particular page, you can still manage cookies through your browser controls (see Section 7).

7) How to manage cookies

You can control cookies in the following ways:

– Cookie preference tool (if available): Use our cookie banner or preference centre on the Websites to manage optional cookies.

– Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Your browser’s “Help” section will explain how.

– Device settings: On mobile devices, you may be able to limit tracking through device privacy settings.

Please note: If you block or delete certain cookies, parts of the Websites may not function correctly.

8) Cookie details (cookie list)

We do not currently publish a full, static list of every cookie and pixel because:

– cookies may change as website features and service providers change; and

– some cookies are set dynamically by third-party services integrated into the Websites.

Where a cookie banner or preference centre is available, it may display the current cookie categories and (in some cases) the current list of cookies in use.

If you would like information about the cookies in use on a specific date or page, contact us at manager+privacypolicy@bayowl.studio and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

9) Data and privacy

Where cookies collect or relate to personal data, our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data, including your rights and how to contact us.

10) Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted on our Websites with the effective date and “Last updated” date.
